New York State Civil Service requires that full-time Toll Collector and office (administrative and administrative support) positions be filled from a list provided by New York State Civil Service. The list is generated from the results of a written examination. Entry-level maintenance positions do not require a written examination from Civil Service. When filling out the application, please be sure to indicate the position desired and preferred location. Fill in all areas as completely as possible. Completed applications may be brought to any bridge or returned to the Headquarters building located in Highland.

Maintenance positions require the employee have a CDL at the time of hire or within six(6) months of hire. They must also pass a physical which includes a drug screen and the ability to climb the bridge structures.

Internships
The New York State Bridge Authority is accepting applications from college students for summer employment opportunities. Students who are either beginning their college career or are returning to college this fall are encouraged to obtain applications at any bridge office or by clicking here.
The positions are ideal for those who enjoy fresh air and outside work. Duties include maintenance of flowerbeds, mowing, traffic control, cleaning and painting. These positions are available from mid-May through August.
Over the years, hundreds of college students have taken advantage of these summer job opportunities and saved money for tuition and other college expenses. The Authority is proud to be able to play a role in the success of the lives of so many young men and women in our mid-Hudson service area.
